International Backhoe

If you have the privilege and pleasure of owning an International backhoe, for sure you want to keep it working in tip top condition! That’s why you should schedule a preventative maintenance on your backhoe at reasonable intervals.

Performing Preventative Maintenance On Your International Backhoe– What To Do And When To Do It

1. The first area to check on your International backhoe is the drive shaft on your equipment pump. You should check or inspect, and grease this drive-shaft as necessary.

2. Another area for a preventative maintenance check are your fuel filters. These should be routinely inspected on your International backhoe and replaced whenever necessary — quarterly at least, and monthly if the situation warrants it.

3. Next, you should periodically change the hydraulic oil and filter on your International backhoe. The smooth functioning of the hydraulic mechanism is key to getting the most use out of your backhoe — and if the hydraulic oil is not periodically changed, or the hydraulic oil filter becomes clogged, you can have serious problems.

4. The same goes for the hydraulic reservoir breather on your International backhoe — this too should be checked or inspected, and cleaned as necessary — at least quarterly, at a minimum.

5. The next thing to look at is the power shuttle transmission oil and screen on your International backhoe — the oil should be changed, and the screen should be cleaned as well.

6. If your International backhoe is equipped with power steering, then you should — at least quarterly — change your power steering fluid filter. Likewise, you should regularly change the transmission oil on your International backhoe as well.

7. If your International backhoe is equipped with a trans-axle breather, it should be periodically inspected and cleaned as necessary.

8. Now for the engine: you should drain, flash, and refill all the engine cooling systems on your International backhoe — backhoe engines work exceedingly hard, and so it’s very important that the engines cooling abilities be kept at peak efficiency.

9. Now, you should look at the tires on your backhoe: you should inspect your tires to make sure that they still have an adequate amount of tread. Without suitable tread, your International backhoe will not be able to get proper tire traction when you are using it.

10. You should carefully examine all of the hinges and mountings for any attachments on your International backhoe as well — loose bolts, broken, bent, or misaligned pieces of metal on your backhoe should be repaired or replaced.

11. You should also inspect the lifting buckets on your backhoe — you should examine them for signs of corrosion or rust, and get them repaired or replaced as necessary. If you’re trying to haul with a rusted bucket, heavy objects could actually fall right through the bucket, and cause serious problems during the operation of your International backhoe.

Side-stabilizers on your International backhoe

As well, you should carefully inspect any side-stabilizers on your International Backhoe — fully extend them so that the backhoe is securely anchored in the ground, and make sure that the stabilizers hold your backhoe snugly and do not permit it to be moved. If you notice any problems with the functioning of your stabilizers, make sure that any problems with your International Backhoe are taken care of right away.

Nothing beats an International backhoe!
