John Deere Backhoe - Over 100 Years Of
Experience
The company that we know today as John Deere began a long
time ago -- 1837, to be exact. Today it is perhaps the foremost
construction equipment manufacturer and distributor in the
United States. And as you might expect, John Deere manufactures
a number of different models of backhoes.

To simplify, we can say that a John Deere
backhoe can be categorized in terms of their digging
depth: under 14 feet, from 14-15 feet, and over 15 feet. John
Deere manufactures a total of 10 models of backhoes. Here is a
brief synopsis (description) of a few of them --
If you need a smaller-sized backhoe, but one that is still
capable of handling construction-sized projects, you should
choose the model 110 TLB. This John Deere backhoe has features
such as a 43 hp, direct injection diesel engine, a
specially-designed load sensing drive system to minimize
stalling out the unit, and boom arms made from high strength,
low-alloy steel.
Next, in the 14 feet-15 feet category, we have the John
Deere 310J loader backhoe. This John Deere backhoe features a
power shift transmission, with four speed ranges in Ford, and
two speed ranges in reverse. The engine is rated at 72 hp -- is
a four cylinder 276 cubic inch powerhouse. This John Deere
backhoe has a maximum digging depth of 14'3", and a truck
loading height of 10'11".
Another John Deere backhoe, also in the 14 feet-15 feet
category, is the 310SJ TMC TC. This is a tool carrier with
Total Machine Control (TMC), which allows this backhoe to be
operated in 3 modes -- craning, normal, or high-production
mode. This John Deere backhoe makes use of special design
features that allows for extremely precise control of this unit
no matter how is being used.
If you are looking for a larger sized John Deere backhoe,
you should choose one of four available models in the 15 feet
and over dig depth category: the 410J, the 410J TMC, the 410J
TMC Tool Carrier, and the 710J. The D410J John Deere backhoe
boasts a 96 hp, 2100-rpm 4-cylinder, 276 cubic inch engine. The
brakes on this unit are of the wet multiple disc type and are
hydraulically activated. This John Deere backhoe has a maximum
digging depth of 15'10", a truck loading height of 12'6" and a
total boom lift capacity rated at 3136 pounds (at ground
level).
Finally, we mentioned the model 710J John Deere loader
backhoe. This backhoe comes equipped with a powerful 123 hp
6-cylinder, 414 cubic inch engine. The transmission on the 710J
is 4-speed in foreword, and 3-speed in reverse. This
John Deere backhoe uses an axial-piston
hydraulic system pump type, and has a maximum digging depth of
17'10". The 710J has a truck loading height of 14'3", and can
be ordered with an optional extendable dipper stick which will
give you a 4'6" extension.
