You Will Never Go Wrong -- With A Woods
Backhoe
Let me ask you a quick question: Who built the very first
tractor-mounted rotary cutter? If you answered the Woods
Equipment Company, you would be correct. In the year 1946, the
Woods brothers (Leonard, Mervel and Keith) invented that
now-famous piece of equipment. Today, the Woods Equipment
Company makes a full line of landscape equipment, loaders,
mowers, rotary cutters, flail shredders, snow blowers, utility
vehicles -- and backhoes.

You will find the Woods backhoe used today
by utility and construction companies, outdoor nurseries, at
golf courses and parks -- even cemeteries! Woods backhoes are
suitable for commercial, industrial, and residential use.
At last count, there were over a dozen different models of
Woods backhoes. A typical model is their BH1050 backhoe. This
backhoe has a loader reach of 68 inches, and the digging arm
will swing around in a full 180 field. The stabilizers on this
Woods backhoe model have a spread of 83 inches when up, and 113
inches when down. The maximum loading height on this model is
98 inches, and the maximum operating height is 148 inches.
Another Woods backhoe is the model BH6000. This backhoe has
a 60 inch transport height and a 51 inch transport stabilizer
spread. It has a maximum digging depth of between 74-75 inches,
depending on the bucket size. This Woods backhoe has an overall
operating height of around 90 inches, a loading height of 54
inches (54.5 inches with a 12 or 16-inch bucket), and a loading
reach of 33.5 inches. The BH6000 Woods backhoe has a 180 bucket
rotation, and a 150 swing arc.
Another popular Woods backhoe is the BH650-2. This backhoe
has a reach below grade of 79.5 inches maximum (with a
standard-size lifting pocket), and a 94 inch reach (measuring
from the center of the swing mast pivot point). The pocket arc
of this Woods backhoe is 175, while the swing working arc is a
full 180 spread.
Another set of Woods backhoes is their BH70-X and BH80-X
models. The BH 70-X has a transport height of 74.75 inches, a
58.5 inch stabilizer spread, and a 96.25 inch maximum digging
depth. The BH80-X, on the other hand, has a transport height of
82.25 inches, a 58.5 inch stabilizer spread, and a 98 inch
maximum digging depth. The overall operating height of these
woods backhoes varies somewhat also: 108.25 inches for the
BH70-X and 117.25 inches for the BH80-X model.
Another model is the BH9000. This Woods
backhoe has a maximum reach below grade of 109 inches
with a standard bucket. It has a loader height of 89 inches,
and a 144 inch reach from the center of the swing mast pivot
point. This Woods backhoe has a 180 bucket arc -- and this is
identical to the total swing working arc as well. The BH9000
has a stabilizer spread of 70 inches-114 inches, and the 24
inch lifting bucket has a rated capacity of 3.72 cubic
feet.
